Black moonstone is a variety of orthoclase feldspar with a deep gray to charcoal-black body color, often accented by warm brown or silver undertones. The most striking feature of moonstone is the way it shines, an effect called adularescence—this soft sheen is caused by light scattering across microscopic layers of feldspar and albite. This optical effect gives the stone a subtle, mysterious glow that seems to move beneath the surface.

In metaphysical traditions, black moonstone is regarded as a stone of new beginnings, intuition, and emotional grounding. It is believed to help shield against negativity while supporting inner strength through cycles of change. Associated with the Root, Sacral, and Third Eye Chakras, it bridges stability with heightened perception.
