Prehnite-epidote is a striking combination of pale green prehnite intergrown with deep green to almost black epidote crystals. Prehnite, a calcium aluminum silicate, typically forms botryoidal or globular masses with a translucent to semi-transparent appearance, while epidote, a calcium aluminum iron silicate, appears as elongated prismatic crystals embedded within the prehnite matrix. This combination produces a visually appealing contrast of soft and rich green tones, often with a vitreous to slightly waxy luster.
