Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate mineral (Ca₂Al₂Si₃O₁₂(OH)) known for its soft, translucent green hues, ranging from pale lime to deeper apple green. It often forms botryoidal, globular, or stalactitic masses, occasionally with crystalline terminations. The mineral exhibits a vitreous to slightly waxy luster, and its semi-transparent nature makes it particularly appealing in tumbled stones and decorative specimens. Prehnite commonly occurs in hydrothermal veins and cavities within basaltic rocks.

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and is often associated with zeolites, epidote, and quartz in its natural environment. Major deposits are found in South Africa, Australia, China, and the United States (New Jersey, Connecticut).
