Beautiful specimen of sulfur from San Felipe, Mexico. The precise locality may be El Apache Sulfur Mine, located 23 miles south of San Felipe on the old Puertecitos road. Sulfur was extensively mined here from 1951 to around 1960, primarily for agricultural fertilizer. Another sulfur mine in the region is the San Carlos Mine, also known as Mina Veronica or El Apache, located 40 km south of San Felipe via the coast road Mexico 5, and then 7 km due west of Playa Hermosa.
