The Bancroft Gem Show : The Rockhound Gemboree August 1st to 4th 2024

Canada’s biggest gem and mineral show, the Rockhound Gemboree, is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for the upcoming Bancroft Gem Show, scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 1st to Sunday, August 4th, 2024. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

What is Bancroft’s Rockhound Gemboree?

The Rockhound Gemboree is a vibrant event open to all types of mineral collectors and enthusiasts, whether you’re a seasoned expert or just beginning your journey into the fascinating world of gemstones. It is the largest gem and mineral show in Canada, located in Bancroft, Ontario.

This family-friendly event offers something for everyone, with a range of activities and attractions that will engage both young and old alike. Kids can enjoy hands-on educational activities and interactive displays, while adults explore the vast selection of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. One of the outdoors activities includes panning for gold!

Many daily talks and conferences are offered; make sure to consult the schedule below. With its welcoming atmosphere and diverse offerings, the Bancroft Gem Show ensures a memorable experience for the entire family.

Local mineral collecting field trips will not be hosted by the gem show this year, but many options will be offered and available around Bancroft during the Rockhound Gemboree. Information will be available on the spot. 

Complementary gem and mineral identification will be available; if you have minerals you would like identified, make sure to bring them to the show!

Vendors and Products

Featuring over 100 vendors, the show promises a captivating array of natural and polished stones sourced globally, alongside fossils and exquisite jewelry pieces. Explore a diverse selection including tumbled stones, rough specimens, sculptures, decorative items, and collectible treasures of all sizes, catering to every taste and budget. A wide range of very interesting Canadian minerals will be available on site.

Food vendors and beverage options are available on the spot for when you or your family will want to take a break. 

Venues and Location

The Bancroft Gem Show taking place in Bancroft, Ontario will be hosted across three venues: the Arena, Outside Arena, and the Curling Club. All areas are fully accessible. 

Shuttle services are offered between the two main locations, and is also in walking distance. 

  • The Arena: North Hastings Community Centre (inside and outside the arena) is located at 103 Newkirk Blvd, Bancroft
  • The Bancroft Curling Club is located nearby at 63 Newkirk Blvd

Gem Show Schedule: August 1st to 4th 2024

  • The Arena – North Hastings Community Centre (inside and outside court):
  1. Thursday, Friday & Saturday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  2. Sunday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Bancroft Curling Club:
  1. Thursday & Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  2. Saturday: 9:30 am – 6:00 pm ( Early Bird Admission )
  3. Sunday: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm ( Early Bird Admission )

Day Pass or Multi-Day Pass

This gem show offers the possibility of purchasing a single day pass or a multi-day pass if you plan on enjoying an extended stay in and around Bancroft during the gem show. 

You can choose from a variety of passes: a day pass, a two-day pass, a three-day pass, or a four-day pass, ensuring flexibility for all attendees.

  • 1 day pass fees:
  1. Adults 18+ – $10.00
  2. Youths 13-17 – $5.00
  3. Children 12 & Under – FREE

Your day pass gives you access to all 3 locations (the Curling Club, the Arena, the court outside the Arena). Your day pass also gives you access to activities and conferences.

No Pets Policy

Please note the Gemboree has a “no pets” policy. The administrators urge pet owners to look into local kennel availabilities. The grounds and parking sites are patrolled, and animals should not be left unattended in vehicles that can easily heat up. Such situations will be reported to authorities. 

2024 Rockhound Gemboree Bancroft Gem Show Details

  • What: The 59th Annual Rockhound Gemboree of Bancroft, Ontario
  • When: August 1st to 4th 2024
  • Where: The North Hastings Community Centre (inside and outside the arena) at 103 Newkirk Blvd and the Bancroft Curling Club at 63 Newkirk Blvd
  • Schedule:
    • Thurday August 1st: 10am to 6pm
    • Friday August 2: 10am to 6pm
    • Saturday August 3: 10am to 6pm
    • Sunday August 4th: 10am to 5pm

* The Curling Club will offer early bird access at 9:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Entry Fee: You can purchase a 1 day, 2 day, 3 day pr 4 day pass depending on the length of your stay. An adult day pass is 10$, youths 13 to 17 is 5$ and access for children 12 and under is free.
  • Free parking
  • ATMs available on the spot (as long as they have money)! But you may want to arrive with cash already handy. Different vendors have different payment preferences, be ready!
