Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate mineral known for its vibrant blue-green hues, often mottled or veined with shades of turquoise, teal, and green. Its color comes from its high copper content, and it often forms in the oxidized zones of copper ore deposits. It belongs to the monoclinic crystal system, although it rarely forms distinct crystals. Major deposits are found in the USA (Arizona, New Mexico), Peru, Chile and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
